And so it begins

I began writing today -- whoo-hoo! Less than a thousand words and I'll probably end up rewriting most of it eventually, but it's a start nonetheless. I decided sort of last minute to change the opening scene of the first chapter, so the writing was very slow. I wasn't totally sure how I wanted the scene to unfold and did a bunch of on-the-spot rewriting. I'm hoping to make quicker progress once I get to some of the scenes I've spent more time outlining.

I'm going to use the same word count meter Rachel uses on her blog, so here it is:

How exciting to know that this is the year I will write my first book. Happy 2007 everyone! I hope yours started out as well as mine did.
