Lion Taming

I'm having some difficulty settling into my 70 Days writing routine. If memory serves, it took me a bit to settle in with NaNo also. I seem to have an innate rebellion against anything that I "have" to do--even if it's something I want to do and something I am my own taskmaster for. At times, it can feel a bit like lion taming. (Or, you know, what I imagine it feels like to be a lion tamer. Not that I've ever actually done that...)

This week, I allowed the lion to get the best of me. I have a short list of excuses handy. Some of them are even valid. But a the end of the day, that still doesn't get the writing done.

I've also learned something about myself. I hate writing fight scenes.
But Renee, you say, aren't you writing an Urban Fantasy?
Why yes, yes I am.
And...shouldn't that have a bunch of fight scenes in it?
Why yes, yes it should.

I'll leave you with that quandry. Up for tomorrow is the casino fight scene (a.k.a. The One Where the Girl Saves the Guy's Ass).
