The '08 Recap Post

2008 was a great year! I grew by leaps and bounds as a writer. I wrote more words than ever before. I gained readership here on LJ. I changed jobs. All good things.

A few places where I didn't do as well as I'd hoped: I read far fewer books than I wanted to. I didn't ever quite achieve a good writing/working/living balance. It took freaking forever for me to write and revise my first book.

So... goals for 2009!

Write and revise the next book in 1 year or less. (That still sounds so long... it's making me cringe... but it's half the time it took for this one!)
Query for an agent. (EEK!)
Read at least 30 books.
Grow my blog readership.
Write a short story.
Figure out how to write, work, read and spend time with family and friends while not giving up things like eating and sleeping.

Here's my list of 2008 reads, in case anyone cares. Yanno...all 26 of them. :(
  • To Hell and Back by Lilith Saintcrow
  • Iron Kissed by Patricia Briggs
  • Mona Lisa Craving by Sunny
  • Unquiet Dreams by Mark del Franco
  • Halfway to the Grave by Jeaniene Frost
  • Magic Bites by Ilona Andrews
  • The Queen's Fool* by Phillipa Gregory
  • The Last Twilight by Marjorie M. Liu

  • Cry Wolf by Patricia Briggs

  • A Taste of Crimson by Marjorie M. Liu
**Note: This list is longer than the one in my sidebar because I realized I'd left a few out. Which makes me feel at least a little better about how much I've read this year. One book every other week isn't so back, considering how much I wrote this year I suppose.

Happy New Year, everyone. I'm so thankful to have all of you as a part of my life and I can't wait to see what 2009 will bring for all of us. :)
