jane doe FINALLY told me some of her backstory today. jeesh! i was beginning to think she didn't want a book after all! she still won't tell me her name, though. sassy little bitch. as soon as i post this, i'm back to babynames.com *shudder* for more name searching.
anyway, on the tail of the early part of her backstory (the part that will probably never make it into any of The Book -- does that bug anyone else? that you have this story that will never really get told?) came a breakthrough in a plot problem i've been wrestling with for a couple of weeks now. yeah! i take the bus to and from work and i was trying to write out some of the backstory on my way home tonight. i was just about at my stop when the breakthrough came so i was writing frantically, trying to get down as much of it as i could before i had to stop to gather up my stuff and get off the bus. i was so excited about it, that i tried to use my work badge to pay my bus fare instead of my bus pass! hee hee. that's when i know it was a good one. i got to my car and wrote for another five minutes or so to get the rest of the idea out before i went to pick up the pooch at daycare.
*happy sigh* it feels good to be back in the game. (even if i am still exhausted and coughing.)
