Not much in the way of new word count tonight. I spent the majority of my writing time re-working the end of the first chapter, which I thought I finished last time. I thought I wanted to end the chapter with a snarky comeback from my MC to her jerk boss, but it's sounding too petty for what actually happened in the scene. I finally just left it with a comment that I needed to fix it later. Either something will come to me when I'm not trying so hard to pin it down, or I'll get it in the second draft.
In other news, I'm reading MY BIG FAT SUPERNATURAL WEDDING, a short story collection edited by P.N. Elrod. I've enjoyed the stories so far -- good, light reading. There's a contribution from Jim Butcher, author of the popular Dresden Files series. I'd read the first two books of the series last year and enjoyed them. The story in MY BIG FAT SUPERNATURAL WEDDING is great. His opening is just gorgeous - I actually read it aloud to my husband, I was so impressed. The book is worth picking up for his story alone (although I'm only halfway through and have enjoyed several of the other stories, as well). Good stuff.
