The Taste of Night

I realized that I neglected to post on the FABULOUS follow up novel by Vicki Pettersson, THE TASTE OF NIGHT. I'm a huge fan of Vicki's work (and yes, one can count oneself a huge fan after only having read 2 books and a blog) so I may be a little biased but dayamn that woman is good! The writing is so rich and the plotting is layered with twists and turns... I read a lot. And I mean, a lot. I also read in very public places -- I take the bus to and from work, I read in doctor's offices, at CVS, in line, walking in the parking lot, wherever I have a spare 5 minutes. So I'm _very_ used to reacting to my books privately. Vicki's given me an out loud, gasping, "Oh my God!" moment in each one of hers. In fact, the revelation in TASTE actually had me slapping my unsuspecting husband's arm and shouting it out to him, regardless of the fact that he had absolutely no idea what I was talking about.

Now _that's_ great writing.
