I met Vicki Pettersson and Rachel Vincent pretty early in the week and spent quite a bit of time with them. We had a blast!! I met Vicki in the hotel bar on Tuesday (?) night and she was very indulgent, even when I turned into sillyfangirl. She's wonderfully funny and sweet and completely dedicated to her craft. Vicki's books, THE SCENT OF SHADOWS and THE TASTE OF NIGHT are available now and if you haven't bought them yet, then you haven't been paying attention to my blog!! Rachel arrived the next day. Her first book, STRAY, will be out in less than a month and I can't wait! She's also very sweet and funny and man, has this woman got it together!! She was very patient with me, even when I asked stupid questions like what's the difference between a mentor and a critique partner. And she has adorable freckles. Damn her.
Rachel, Vicki and I sat together for the Faery Ball. I dressed up. Of course. I _never_ pass up a chance to wear a costume. You can see a picture of Rachel and me (in my fairy costume!) on Rachel's blog. We were being complete goofs, so when I tried to take a nice, normal picture of Vicki and Rachel, Vicki insisted on doing all manner of silly things.

Sunny (pictured with Vicki) joined us at the Faery Ball. She was one of the nicest, most professional people I met at the convention. I can't wait to read her book, MONA LISA AWAKENING, which I bought at the Book Fair.

I also had the pleasure of spending some time with Jeanne Stein, author of THE BECOMING. I approached Jeanne at one of the mixer events to let her know how much I enjoyed THE BECOMING. One thing led to another and we ended up chatting about writing for a couple of hours over drinks and nachos. Jeanne is a lovely person. She lives in Colorado (where my story is set) so now I have someone to bounce Colorado related questions off of. Here we are, post nachos.

I have no idea how many pictures I can publish in a single post, so I'm going to stop here for the night. I have more stories, more pictures and more fabulous people to gush about so stay tuned!

Renee, I love the photos. Definitely must have. A real pleasure meeting you. Those elf ears you had glued on at the RT Fairy Ball are pretty darn unforgettable :)

I am LOVING your RT photos and stories. More, please! It all sounds so cool... What a wonderful experience for you - you must be pretty damn inspired to get back to your writing. :)
Lovely photos of RV and VP, too.
Sunny,
The funny thing is that it took so long for most people to notice them! I'm thinking of wearing them to my day job. ;)
Karen,
I got TONS of great advice and info, which I intend to (eventually) post here. I'm going to try to post more tonight, but my dog is being a little beastie so I don't know how far I'll get. It was so motivating -- I'm so disenchanted with my day job right now, it's not even funny. :( But hey, I've got to do it to fund the writing.
