It was Colonel Mustard in the library with the candlestick.

Baddie #2 bit the dust, but I haven't finished the scene yet. Mostly because I haven't actually figured out how my MC kills Baddie #3. The first two, both Lesser Baddies, were no big deal. Simple, efficient fights where they were clearly outclassed by my girl. This last is a Greater Baddie and I need to make the fight more evenly matched. But first...I have to figure out how she's going to kill him.

I write my fight scenes like a game of Clue: I have to know where they are, who's going to win and how they're going to do it before I can type a word of it. Once I have those three pieces, the rest falls into place pretty smoothly, because I can follow the characters' logical actions in my mind like a movie, scripting out what elements of their environment they'll be interacting with and what steps--sometimes literally--they need to take to get them to my end goal.

What about you? Ever write fight scenes? What are the facts you need to have nailed down before you start?
