Between a family emergency and general re-entry to real life last week, I didn't manage to get anything done on The Book last week. Tonight I spent some time reading what I'd written so far, deciding how much I could keep and how much had to be rewritten. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I actually liked most of what I'd written. Even the opening scene, which I've been avoiding in my re-reads because I initially disliked it and decided I would rewrite it during the first revision. Yet, here I am ready to rewrite and I find myself reluctant to change most of the scene. So, I'm going to leave it largely as is for now. I initially thought I'd have to rewrite most of what I'd written so far, but I think I'll actually be able to keep most of it. I have to modify some of it because I changed my MC's job, but that shouldn't be too difficult. That's it for tonight. I'm not going to post a word count again until I'm done re-working the stuff I've already written. I'll use that as a base line word count for going forward.
This week should be much quieter and pretty much back to normal, so I'm looking forward to really digging into some new word count.
