The Scent of Shadows

Here is my reader review of The Scent of Shadows. In case it's not clear, do not pass Go, do not collect $200, go directly to the bookstore and get this book on March 1st.

With an opening that draws you in and an ending that leaves you begging for more, Vicki Pettersson’s The Scent of Shadows is a must read. The plot is fantastic, twisting and turning enough to keep your eyes glued to the page with deep pockets of characterization which Pettersson uses masterfully to breathe life into Joanna, Ben and the Zodiac Troop. This book has everything: action, suspense, laughter, revenge, love, loss and hope – all wrapped up in an adventure written in gorgeous prose that quenches the reader’s thirst for richly painted details while still hanging onto the gritty heart of the story. The Scent of Shadows has revealed Pettersson’s destiny along with Joanna’s – this amazing debut shows her well on her way toward a place among Urban Fantasy’s great writers.
