For the past several months, I have been restless and tired of my music. I go through these periods every now and then, particularly when I haven't been listening to the radio and, therefore, not listening to anything new. Over the past few months I have also been a little disenchanted with my writing. Not only has my progress been slow, I've been truly writing in rough draft form. Which is fine, since this *is* a rough draft. But I'd gotten spoiled during NaNo, when I enjoyed periods of wonderful prose that streamed out of me effortlessly--a heady combination of quick progress and fine writing.
This past week or so, I feel as though I've been experiencing a renaissance of sorts. I am suddenly back in love with my music, rediscovering old favorites and falling in love anew with songs I've listened to hundreds of times before but which have never really grabbed my attention. I've also been writing better. Not faster, but better. And truly, given the choice of the two, I'll take slower, more beautiful prose anytime. It's quite exhilirating to report a word count in the thousands at the end of the day, but if I've got a word count of hundreds under my belt coupled with the knowledge that each sentence is *perfect* (or nearly so), each word carefully selected to beautifully, perfectly describe the emotions and actions of the scene...now that is really something.

Here are a few of the songs I've been so passionate about this week:
Disarm by The Smashing Pumpkins
Luna by The Smashing Pumpkins
The Difficult Kind by Sheryl Crow (I prefer the version sung with Sarah McLachlan from the Sheryl Crow and Friends disc)
Sober by Kelly Clarkson
Desperately Wanting by Better Than Ezra
Black by Pearl Jam
Right Here by Staind
Set Fire To The Third Bar by Snow Patrol
Shimmer by Fuel
Like You by Evanescence
How about you? What are the songs that are currently wrapped around your heart?
