Step One: the essentials.
I plunk down in front of my obnoxious, overflowing TBR shelf. I pull a ridiculous pile of long anticipated reads into my lap, sort through them and put two back.
Me to the empty room: "This is ridiculous! How many freaking books can you read in a week?? And you're going to be writing."
Sort through the giant pile again. Put more back, leaving three in my hands. "There."
Stand up. Stomach clenches in utter panic as I stare at the combined width of the books. "But...what if I run out?!"
Dash back to the shelf and add one more to the pile. Panic eases.
Final choices: The Iron Hunt by Marjorie M. Liu, The Touch of Twilight by Vicki Pettersson, Ink Exchange by Melissa Marr, Magic Burns by Ilona Andrews.
Step Two: less essential items like clothes and toothpaste.
