When I'm writing--especially if things are going well and my head is deep in the story--I tend to forget or ignore things I should be doing. Like drinking water or, say, moving. This means I emerge, bleary-eyed, from a writing stupor with a dehydration headache and aching muscles (not to mention wrinkled clothes because I didn't hear the dryer buzz and forgiving, if irritated, family members because I forgot to return their call which I was TOTALLY going to do in five more minutes...3 hours ago).
I would love software that would just pop up a reminder window for things like this. Every five minutes: drink water. Every 20 minutes: stretch. An hour from now: fold clothes. That sort of thing.
Does this already exist? I'm currently writing in Scrivener. Maybe there's an add-on?

Your still using a mac right? I think there's a widget that does this for the dashboard. I occasionally use a freeware called apimac timer. It just counts down and then makes a noise, which prompts me to get up or at least remember what time/day it is for half a second.
Oh, cool. I'll take a look.
