Book review: HUNTER'S PRAYER by Lilith Saintcrow

(cross-posted from Goodreads)

Hunter's Prayer (Jill Kismet, #2)Hunter's Prayer by Lilith Saintcrow

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Another great read. All the things I loved from the first book are here again--great action, continued romance, intriguing mystery. I'm loving this series!

In this book, we see Jill battle some of her old demons (pun intended) as the case she's working on stirs up the past she's fought long and hard to bury. We also learn a little more about Perry, whom I'm liking more and more as he develops. When I say "liking," I don't mean liking-liking, I mean "becoming intrigued by." There really is very little that's truly likeable about Perry. But I digress... We also see a little deeper into Jill's relationship with Perry, which I *loved*.

I gave this one 4 instead of 5 stars because I found some of the action to be slightly confusing and because the story, overall, didn't seem to be quite as tight as the first (some things were repeated several times, that sort of thing -- mostly nits but enough to pull me out of the story here and there).

Again, highly recommended to UF fans and anyone who liked the Danny Valentine series. Even better if you start with the first book, NIGHT SHIFT.
