A mix of things

Today I got a bunch of work done, but only a little of it was new writing. I've been hedging writing a particular part of the scene I'm working on, mostly because although I knew the outcome of what needed to happen, I didn't know how the scene got me there. So this morning I took the time to step through the whole scene and decide what was really going to happen. Tonight I had to do a little research to make sure a piece of it would work and then I wrote a few paragraphs of it.

I also spent time working on my costumes for the Moulin Rouge and Vampires of the Wild West parties at the convention (just a couple of weeks away!). I think I've come up with clever ways to participate without spending a fortune. The Fairy Ball (or whatever it's called) will be my real show. I've got a killer costume for that already (which, incidentally, still needs to be cleaned from Halloween... note to self...).

Now I'm going to relax with the second book in Vicki Pettersson's fabulous series, THE TASTE OF NIGHT. And hope my headache goes away.

Hi Renee, it was great to see you over in LJ land! It sounds like you're doing well with your WiP too. I know it looks like I'm pouring out masses of words - well, I suppose I was! ;) - but it's not always a Good Thing. As I just discovered. I am now cutting around 6,000 words, so really need to slow down a bit and make sure things are going in the right direction.

You know, I read a great tip somewhere - even if you are stressed out, busy, tired, or sick, if you can write just 100 WORDS every day for 100 DAYS, at the end of that time you will have 10,000 words. Not bad when you think of it like that. And most times, I'd bet you'd sit down to do your 100 words and easily go over that amount. 100 words? Hey, it's not even half a MS-formatted page! :)
