I mentioned Judi McCoy in my last post. Judi led our Beginner Writer's Pre-Con and was wonderful. She is so dedicated to helping aspiring authors get published!!! She is very open and incredibly honest. She shared a lot of her experiences with us -- the good and the bad -- along with all the basics of the biz. Judi writes whimsical paranormal romances -- very light, cute romances with a paranormal twist. (I make the distinction, because most of the PR I read is of a darker nature.) In preparation for the class, I read ALMOST A GODDESS, which is about one of Zeus' daughters, Kyra, the Muse of Good Fortune. She is sent down to Earth for a year to use her powers in a casino with the caveat that she cannot fall in love with a human. If you're looking for a fun, light read, definitely check out Judi's work.
I also want mention Kathy Love. I haven't read Kathy's books yet and I somehow missed her at the Book Fair :( but I'll be grabbing them in my next binge at Barnes and Noble. Kathy writes paranormal romance about vampires and werewolves. Her characters sound hilarious. She was so nice (I know, I keep using that word!!). She and I got chatting after one of the panels she was on and discovered we both went to college in Maine (I did 2 years at University of Maine at Farmington and then transferred to UConn and she went to Univ. of Maine at Orono if memory serves).
Last but not least, here's a picture of Logan Sweet, author of HOW I DRIVE MY MOM CRAZY WHILE SHE'S TRYING TO WRITE BUT GET AWAY WITH IT BECAUSE I'M SO DARN CUTE.

I've no doubt forgotten someone, but my brain is calling for me to surrender the keyboard. I will eventually be posting some of the writing tips and info I got from my workshops, but it will take me time to compile my information, get permission from the writers, etc. and I really must get back to work on The Book.
Happy Cinco de Mayo everyone! Have fun and stay safe.
